Ale is a refreshing, traditional yogurt-based drink, ideal for cooling off during the sweltering summer months. Similar to lassi, which is a sweetened yogurt drink, ale is savory with a high water-to-yogurt ratio.
This easily digestible buttermilk beverage is enjoyed by family members and offered to guests. Ale is an integral part of Mangalorean meals, typically enjoyed at the end of the meal to aid digestion. With its probiotic benefits, it hydrates the body and cools down the tummy from all the spices consumed.

Ingredients
- 1 cup Curd/Yogurt – 1 cup
- 1 Green chilli
- 1/2 inch Ginger
- A few Coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
- Water
Instructions
- Add 1 large cup of Curd/Yogurt in to a blender.
- Add the Green chilli, Ginger, Coriander leaves, Salt and blend
- Add a little water and blend again.
- Serve as it is or with ice cubes.
